Bishop Museum
Located in downtown Honolulu, the Bishop Museum is the premier destination for Hawaiian artifacts and exhibits. Open daily, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Bishop Museum is always a solid rainy day choice. There are also many exhibits and programs perfect for children. We actually recommend visiting rain or shine!
Iolani Palace
Built in 1882, by King Kalakaua, Iolani Palace is the only royal palace on U.S. soil. Located in the heart of downtown Honolulu, this opulent residence of Hawaii’s monarchy will fascinate you. Open Wednesday – Saturday, and closed most holidays; so checking their website first is strongly suggested.
Treat Yourself to a Spa Day
Honolulu has some of the most luxurious spas around, so use a rainy day as an excuse to treat yourself! If 5-star pampering is what you’re searching, try Abhasa Spa or Moana Lani Spa, both located in Waikiki. Another downtown Honolulu gem, the Honolulu Museum of Art, also known as HoMA, is interesting no matter what the weather is doing. Open Wednesday – Sunday, this impressive museum houses over 50,000 works of art.
Although not as ideal in the rain, Shangri La Hawaii is a fascinating way to spend a couple hours in Hawaii, and can be booked through HoMA.
Polynesian Cultural Center
Unlike the other suggestions, the Polynesian Cultural Center is located on Oahu’s North Shore, in Laie. However, you can include transportation from Waikiki. While some exhibits and activities are outdoors, the luau and show are one of the only ones held indoor on the island.
Happy Hour, Brunch or Both
Let’s be honest. Sometimes you just want to enjoy a little cocktail on vacation, am I right? Take advantage on a rainy day in Honolulu and spend it lingering over a decadent brunch, or sleep in and hit an early happy hour.
Waikiki Aquarium

You can while away the hours at an indoor entertainment center if the weather’s bad. Lucky Strike in Ala Moana Shopping Center has food, bowling lanes, arcade games and more! Dave and Buster’s at Ward has tons of food and games. The Fun Factory at Kahala Mall is smaller but a classic choice.
Additionally, there are movie theaters located at Ward and Kahala Mall. You’ll always remember the movie you saw in Hawaii, even if it doesn’t win an Oscar!
